Features of our Soap Bars: the science behind

Our probiotic soap bars have been formulated to provide you with exciting positive effects to both mind and body in a hectic everyday modern life.

Probiotics, essential oils, botanicals, and clays have proven effects both topically (on skin/scalp/hair) and aromatherapeutically. However, such effects should not be interpreted in the wrong way. We strive to make sure that information about our soap bars' effects is provided in a clear and transparent way. Yet, this can be challenging due to limited space for describing the effects on our packaging, website, and social media. Therefore this article intends to provide the information and the sources of the research behind the effects.

First, it is important to stress the way the claims are written. "Can/contributes to/helps/promotes/decrease/increase/improve/" are used actively to make sure that it's clear that the soaps do not by themselves give definite effects. Rather they are a contributing factor amongst many deciding factors in the health of the skin, scalp, and hair, as well as the feeling of wellness and comfort. For example, while many essential oils are proven to have aromatic effects on the mind, for example by helping reduce stress, there are many other factors influencing our level of stress. The physical effects also need to be interpreted this way.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are concentrated extracts from various plants. The components of essential oils are naturally constructed in the plant based on the plants' DNA. It's this combination of various natural chemicals that gives each essential oil its scent and properties. Some plant compounds are absorbed through the skin when they are applied. In addition, essential oil are used in aromatherapy and have various effects on the feeling of wellness. The limbic system of your brain, which is involved with emotions, behaviors, the sense of smell, and long-term memory, can be activated by inhaling the aromas from essential oils and eventually help you for example feel relaxed or energized. The effects of essential oils are studied quite extensively, so there are a lot of articles. We provided some of them under.

What are probiotics?

Did you know that our bodies carry more microbial/bacteria than human cells? The bacteria we carry are essential to our health. Yet, we want to keep away pathological bacteria (bacteria causing disease). Probiotics help with this. There is more and more research into probiotics and the general role that bacteria on the skin/scalp have for the health of the skin, scalp, and body in general.

In general, probiotics help strengthen your scalp and skin's natural defense against unwanted bacteria, toxins, and pollutants. Read more about probiotics and the science behind, in our blog post.

Floral Detox - Probiotic Shampoo Bar [oily & normal hair]

Ingredients: Grapefruit essential oil, Geranium essential oil, Probiotic bacteria (Lactobacillus ferment, Streptococcus lactis extract), Hibiscus powder, Shikakai powder, Brahmi powder.

Against oily hair. Grapefruit oil has the property of helping remove excess oils in the hair and scalp. Geranium oil can contribute to balancing the production of sebum (naturally occurring wax) production in the scalp, thus helping balance the naturally occurring oils in the scalp and hair.

Removing toxins. Grapefruit essential oil has antibacterial (antibacterial, antibacterial, antibacterial), antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-fungal properties. This way grapefruit oil is a contributing factor in cleaning away pollutants and other toxins from the hair.

What are toxins? "Toxins" is a general term referring to anything that can damage organisms. The toxins we refer to are pollutants and toxins from bacteria and fungi. These toxins can for example come from pollutants in the air of polluted cities. We want to clear these toxins away so they do not attach to the wax/oils in the skin and clog the pores and hair follicles.

Promote hair growth. Geranium essential oil can help promote hair growth by nourishing the scalp and enhancing sebum production. Through its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties it nourishes the scalp by creating a healthy environment. Geranium essential oil is linked to sebum production in the hair (naturally occurring wax). Sebum is what gives the scalp moisture, yet too much sebum can result in the clogging of hair follicles which can inhibit hair growth. Geranium essential oil can contribute to balancing the production of sebum/balancing the moisture in the scalp. These factors do however not result in guaranteed hair growth as hair growth is linked to many more factors. However, they are positive factors in promoting hair growth. If you experience hair growth or not, depends on all the factors combined.
